St George’s Celebration Weekend

22 April: Charity Roadshow And Workshops / 23 April: Traditional Country Fair

The Sudbury Market Town Partnership has secured Big Lottery funding to ‘Celebrate England’ on the weekend of 22 and 23 April 2017 – 23 April is, of course, St George’s Day.

Saturday 22 April, Charity Roadshow and workshops from 10:00 – 16:00
at The Quay Theatre and The Jetty in Quay Lane, Sudbury, CO10 2AN.

Each workshop will offer ‘10 Top Tips’ for Writing Good Funding Applications, Recruiting and Managing Volunteers, Marketing and Publicity, Managing a Group’s Finances, Advocacy Skills, Managing Effective Meetings, Smarter Working with IT, Speaking and Presentation Skills.

A Volunteer Awards Ceremony will take place at 16:00, where awards will be presented to members of the local community who volunteer within organisations.  Each organisation is invited to nominate someone they think is worthy of an award and the three finalists in each category will be invited to attend, along with their nominators, with the winners being announced during the event.

Sunday 23 April, St George’s Day Traditional Country-Style Fair
at Sudbury Cricket Club Ground, Quay Lane, Sudbury, CO10 2AN

Stalls provided by the voluntary and community sector, competitions for children and various kinds of entertainment, taster sessions for cricket, bowls and tennis.  The theme of the competitions will, of course, be around St George and the Dragon!  The Cricket Club will have their bar open and will also be offering barbeque food, tea, coffee and cakes.

If your voluntary or community group would like to take part in this by having a stall offering some kind of activity and raising funds for your good cause (an ideas list is on the application form), please apply now as spaces will be limited.

The event will be widely publicised and we also plan to offer a Park and Ride service from the Delphi car park to Quay Lane.  A programme of events will be produced, to include details of what your organisation will be offering.
